Gadget  dislocated his hip again on Thursday. I took him to the vet and he does have to have surgery to remove the ball of his hip. He will be confined for 4 to 5 days and then he will finely get out of his bubble for good. I might make him sleep in it at night so that he doesn't get twisted up in the blankets and pillows again.

Poor little guy he has to go in and have his surgery in the morning. He will have to spend the night and then when he gets home he will be a mommies boy and not want to do any thing but have me hold him..

July 7, 2013 Toilet paper roll mini book.

It to totally awesome that you can take a toilet paper roll and turn it into something unique,

I made this for a person close to my heart. It was a thank you/ going away gift. For she is moving to Portland Oregon. I took step by step photos of this project. I am going to be posting them here so you can all see them.

                                                                 Step 1. The roll

Step 2. flattened roll.

I flattened the roll then I ironed it. Then I put heavy books on them as they cooled. This helped keep the from warping from the heat.

Step 3. Coloring the roll.

I inked around the outside of the roll. I wanted the roll to show. It was part of the design. Then I decoupaged it so that the ink wouldn't rub off. Then I sanded the roll to distress it a little.

Step 4. paper on the roll

I put paper on the roll. I left a good portion of the roll showing.

To this point in the project I did the same with the tags. I cut them out with my cricut. I then sanded them so that they had some distressing. Then I inked them like I did the rolls. but I heat set the ink instead of decoupaging them.

Then I put a green dotted paper on them like I did the rolls.
But I forgot to take a picture of this step.

Step 5.  Putting pictures on roll.

I put the pictures on both sides of each roll. I started with the title on the front.
I printed out a picture of the city of Portland and then put it in the cricut and cut out the letters. and for the shadow letters I used a picture of a cloudy sky. I wanted them to feel like Portland.
Each picture had a picture on the tag that went the the picture on the roll.

Step 6. Pictures on the tags.

I put the pictures on the tags
Then I put stickers on the ends of the tags to that when they are inside the rolls and you flip the pages it says  Discover P O R T L A N D O R

Step 7. The finished project.

I used rings to complete the book. I sanded the rings to distress them so that they went with the theme of the book.

I wanted this book to be about the toilet paper rolls and the city of Portland so I didn't had any bling of any kind to it.

I used eleven toilet paper rolls and eleven tags. I Put all the places I like to go when I go to Portland and there are some that I loved to go when I was living in Portland.

There are a few things I learned about myself and about the things I did for this project.

The first thing I learned is that I really don't like inking that big of a space. It is a big mess. The next time I do something like this I will use paint...

Another thing I learned is as nice as it is to recycle those cereal boxes it is a pain in the butt when you are using them as a double sided tag. you have to sand the label off..... I would go out and buy chipboard the next time.

I would use decoupage glue for the ink next time. I would use a clear coat paint.

And the most important thing I learned is that this kind of project takes longer then I ever thought it would and I would start it weeks in advance of the time it needs to be done.

I really enjoyed doing this project. I was doing it for the right reason for this very special person and I am so very happy she liked it.

I put the finished book into a tube type box so that it could be safely stored. It was really funny because it was like a large toilet paper roll when you  laid it side ways.

July 5, 2013

I can't believe it is already July. Time goes by so fast.

Update on Gadget. He had his 2 week check up. His hip is doing great. It is still in and healing like it is suppose to be. The tape holding his leg up is gone and he is not liking to stand on his leg yet. Which is a good thing because we want him to use it very little. He still has to be confined for a couple more weeks. The tape cut his leg so he has staples. They come out at his 4 week check up. He is on antibiotics and he still gets his chill pills.  He is doing great. We are hoping that this time the hip will stay in place for ever and he won't need surgery.

June 16, 2013

It is fathers day...

Happy fathers day to all the dads out there.... And to my wonderful amazing husband.

I wanted to update you all on the little gadget man.. He is so darn determined to get through this hip issue of his. Last night he slept in his tote bed. He woke up about 2 am to go potty. First time since he had been home at about 1 pm the day before. I finally got him to go on a potty pad in the bathroom. He is standing on his other 3 legs much better this morning. more stable and he doesn't fall over as often.

I am now sitting on the couch with him on his blanket cuddled down sleeping again.

Here is a picture of him sleeping in his tote bed.

June 14, 2013

Yesterday ended with Our little Gadget man hurting himself. We are still not sure how he did it but he dislocated his left hip. He had to be put under so that they could put it back into place. He is now resting over night at the vets. He is so tiny it scares us because if this doesn't work he will need surgery to put a pin in his hip. We are praying for him to fully recover. He will have to have his leg taped up for 5 to 7 days and he will need us to do everything for him. We will be on 24 hour gadget watch... He has his play pen for the dining room/living room during the day and I am making hi a bed in a big tote for at night for beside my side of the bed. That way he will be comfortable and confined but I won't have to move his bed every morning and every night. He is only 3  1/2 pounds so this is a very serious issue for him. Their hip joints aren't that big and most of the time they have to put a pin in the hip to hold it into place and that means surgery.

June 13, 2013  2 pm.

Ok I moved stuff around in the craft room AGAIN! This time I am really liking it.... There is so much more room in the middle of the room. I can still see out the window... If if I am looking at the fence and the sky above the house next door. At least I am not looking at the WALL!

Here are some pictures of what I did...

June 13, 2013

Today I walked into my craftroom and I think I got how to make it work for all of us.... This is a picture of how it is now.

I will be moving the tables once again but I know it will work this time. I know it will give us all the space we want.

It is crazy how our brain works....

Today June 12, 2013

It is a crazy busy morning for me. Got up way too early. Got loads of laundry to do.

Yesterday I moved the tables in our craft room again. I had a small uncomfortable chair that I was using and when I put another chair in here it just didn't fit. So I had to rethink the way I had the tables. So now I have 2 6 foot tables in a L shape along the walls. It does give more space to sit, but it also takes away work space on the tables. So I am trying to figure out how we can get all the supplies and all the works tables to fit in and not take away from anything. This is a chore that will be an on going chore. I will beat this issue. I want to have my cake and eat it too... hehehehehehe

The rest of the house is great. There are things we still need but we are being picky. We want to make it a place we want to be and like Oprah says we want the house to jump up and hug us when we walk into it.

Ok lets see if I can get this picture of my craft room posted.
When we decided to move into a house after 11 years of living full time in an RV I was a little scared. It was over whelming. I still think sometimes that it is over whelming. But I am LOVING IT! I love this house. It is very beautiful. Very nice front yard. Nicely landscaped but nothing over the top. And almost low maintenance. I love our back yard. It is hmmm how to describe it. I have to say that the flat part is perfect size. Then there is a hill side in the back. Half of the back yard is a hill. It has a nice rock wall about 3 feet tall... just tall enough so the pups can't get up on it. and then it goes up to another wall section. then it goes up to the green gain link fence that makes it possible for us to see the rest of the hill that is on city property. The best part of it is that there are wild animals up there. We have deer that come through and wild turkey. We also have some squirrels. and lots of birds.

We have this awesome patio that we can sit and watch the wildlife.
Here is a couple pictures of my new craft room. I am loving it and I know I will enjoy every minute I spend in here scrapping.

Jan, 8, 2013

This month is flying by and I still have lots of stuff to do. I have been working on my January cards and I still haven't picked up my adhesive yet. I do need to get that going. I have most everything cut out...... I am hoping to get them done by the end of this weekend.

It is looking like I am addicted to cutting stuff out on my cricut. I spent all day today cutting stuff out. Now I can start putting stuff together.

I hope everybody likes the cards I am making.... This will be the first card swap I do.

I joined a cut swap and I have gotten some really nice cuts from the ladies that sent them to me...

I have been having problems with the internet and the cable guy came out today to fix the problem, he looked at the modem and said  " it is old you need a new one."

Once I figure out how to upload pictures I will put some on this blog. I am still trying to learn how to do things.

First day

January 6, 2013

Wow today is Sunday and it is my first day of my new blog. I decided to start a blog because I thought it would be fun to have a place to put all my scrapping pictures, information and just plan ole fun. I love scrapping. I have been doing for 10 years,

I live in Southern Oregon with my husband Mark, daughter Amanda, and three wonderful furkids  Gadget (male chihuahua) he is 3 1/2 pounds and thinks he is 300 pounds. Pearl (female chihuahua) she is 10 pounds but not fat, she is just a large size chihuahua. and last but not least our Skippy doodle bear. he is a yorkie. He came to us via my mom when she passed away. He is schizophrenic. But he is our baby and I wouldn't give him up for anything in the world.

Amanda is 20 now and in her 2nd year of college. This means I have 20 years of scrapping to do to catch up on the millions of pictures of her I have taken in the past 20 years.

I love taking pictures and it seems that I will never get caught up. but the day I am caught up will be the day I no longer will be able to scrap.

I started scrapping because I love creating thing with paper and I love making memories. The thing I like to do best is make scrapbooks for other people. I love making cards. I think I actually like making cards more than scrapping. because I can give them away easier than books. Takes less time to get that instant satisfaction.

I have made many books for people through out the years and the last complete book I made was about my moms life and all the things that was important to her. I made this book to have at her memorial service and I worked on it day in and day out for 5 weeks and it took all of me to do it. After I was done with it I found myself not being able to scrap. It had been over 2 years before I even looked at my scrap supplies.  A friend of mine told me that her mom past away and I went home took out my supplies and made her a sympathy card. This sympathy card was one of the hardest things I have ever made. It was very emotional and I found myself needing to put my supplies away for another long while. Than something happened this past summer and my daughter wanted to get creative so we pulled out my supplies again and we started scrapping. We like to give each other challenges. So we made up a few challenges and got to work. the first 2 or 3 was really hard but after a while I found myself really getting into scrapping again. I knew this was a good thing for me. I love this craft so much I knew that I couldn't stay away from it for ever,

For my birthday this fall my wonderful husband gave me a Cricut.  At first I wasn't to thrilled. Even though I had been wanting one for too many years. after a few weeks I started using it. We made Christmas cards this year and we made snowflakes for our Christmas tree.  So I sit here the 6th day of January making projects to cut out with my cricut. I think I am now addicted.

I joined my first card swap. I can't wait until I finish my cards and send them out. I am hoping that these swaps and RAKS keep me enthusiastic about scrapping again.
